What is Guildford Business Forum?
Guildford Business Forum (GBF) is a joint initiative between Guildford Borough Council, the Guildford business community and the Surrey Chambers of Commerce.
Guildford Business Forum's Mission:
- To provide a point of contact between the business community in Guildford and Guildford Borough Council; encouraging a two-way dialogue to foster and support a high quality environment and attract and retain investment from business.
- To provide opportunities for Guildford Borough Council, local businesses, Surrey Chambers - Guildford, and other organisations to work in partnership to increase the Borough's prosperity.
How will the Forum achieve this mission?
- The Forum is comprised of a steering committee with representation from the majority political party on the Council, Council officers, Chairs of the Forum’s sector groups, the Surrey Economic Partnership and the Surrey Chambers of Commerce.
- The Forum is made up of five sector groups, representing the professional and service sector, property and transport, the retail and town centre sector, rural sector and the tourism and leisure industries. These groups are chaired by industry representatives from the local business community and are open to any Guildford-based business who would like to attend.
- Once a year, the Forum holds an open meeting to which all Guildford based businesses are invited. These meetings will focus on the local business environment and how this is impacted upon by Council policies.
- In addition, in an ex-officio capacity, the Chair of the Forum is invited to represent business on the Local Strategic Partnership.
