Changes in our town centre represent an investment of many hundreds of millions of pounds. It is a huge investment with projects and proposals evolving constantly and market forces coming into play. We have a key role in managing this exciting change and shaping and controlling positively where it has the powers to do so.
This feature shows the framework of proposals and changes that are either agreed or planned to take place by around 2010. Dates are included if known, but we cannot guarantee their accuracy in the PDFs below. The area boundary on the map matches the one shown in the Local Plan.
The council is preparing an ‘Area Action Plan’ for the Town Centre, which will recognise the sensitivity of the town centre historic environment and the changes anticipated.
