Book of remembrance

The Book of Remembrance is on view daily in the Remembrance Room. It provides an inexpensive and lasting form of memorial to those departed.

Book of Remembrance

There are four books, one for each quarter of the year. An opening is provided for each day of the year, and the Book will be open each day at the appropriate page in order that the entry may be seen on every anniversary of a loved one's death.

The lettering is executed by hand by artists and richly bound and tooled. It will offer the same degree of permanence as the best examples of mediaeval illuminated manuscripts.

The name of a loved one can be recorded on any day of the year that has a special significance, such as a birthday, date of death or wedding anniversary. Entries of five lines or more can feature an illustration of your choice.

To enhance this service any entries made in the Book of Remembrance will be available on the Internet. This will provide members of your family who may live many miles away access to the Book of Remembrance via the Internet to view a personal entry at any time.

Miniature Books and Memorial Cards
Miniature Books and Memorial Cards are also available. Both may contain a copy of the original inscription as it appears in the Book of Remembrance, inscribed by the same artists. They are suitable for sending to relatives and friends who may be unable to visit the Crematorium or as a personal keepsake.

Miniature Books are hand-bound, covered in grey suede and the cover embossed with the word ‘Remembrance’. They have several pages and may contain a number of entries and/or other suitable wording, such as a favourite poem etc.
