Joining forces to make Surrey cleaner, safer and greener
There are lots of organisations involved in keeping Surrey clean, safe and green. This includes the local police, borough councils, and Surrey County Council. Although we all have different jobs to do, we work in partnership to deliver services that really matter to our residents in the most effective way possible.
Across Surrey our ‘frontline heroes’ are working every day to help to keep Surrey clean, safe and green.

Surrey-wide 83 Lollipop ladies and men help children from 67 schools cross the road more safely.

Just one of Guildford Borough Council's street cleaners picks up around 80 tonnes of litter each year.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service attends between 500 and 600 accidental fires in Surrey homes each year. It also attends over 370 water, animal and line rescue incidents annually. These include relief at flooding incidents, rescuing trapped animals and responding to building collapses.
Prevention is a significant part of a firefighter's work and in 2007 the service visited 2775 homes to look for potential fire risks, installing 3,495 free smoke alarms where needed.
