We carry out various consultations with young people ranging from ad hoc consultation to a youth survey as part of our Residents' Survey to find out what young people think about our services. We also run a Youth Council of local young people.

We take part in Local Democracy Week which encourages young people to take interest in and get involved in local decision-making.

Previous years' events have included young people from local schools grilling local politicians on issues that matter to them in a national web-based event called 'I'm a councillor, get me out of here!'. The young people were able to vote online to choose their overall winner.

We have also organised a 'Take your councillor to school/college' day for Local Democracy Week. The event involved 15 local councillors who visited 250 students at five locations to talk informally about their role and to get involved with a typical student day.

We have also taken part in a political speed-dating event as part of Local Democracy Week.
