Greening the borough grants


We offer grants of up to £500 for environmental projects. These projects are to develop people’s awareness and understanding of the environment and help us to protect and improve Guildford. 

Applications are made under two categories:

  1. Natural environment
    Outdoor and garden projects.  For example sensory gardens, allotment gardens, wildlife areas.
  2. Built environment
    For example energy efficiency measures, composting, recycling, cycle racks, a walking bus scheme.

Who can apply?
Schools, community or not-for-profit groups must be located within Guildford Borough.

The criteria

  • All applications must have an environmental/sustainable element to their project.
  • All projects must be completed within a year of receiving the grant money
  • The council reserves the right to publicise any project that has received a greening the borough grant.

The Greening the Borough Grant Fund application deadline for 2007/8 is now closed. Applications are currently being processed.

Application forms for Greening the Borough Grant funds in 2008/9 will be available from September 2008.
