Councillor Pauline Searle was born in Guildford and has lived here ever since.  She is married to Victor (who is also a Borough Councillor) has three children Matthew, Louise and Luke and four grandchildren - Finley (7), Isabella (5), Maeve (3) and Amelie (1).

Pauline was elected as Borough Councillor for Stoughton in 1999.  She has been a member of the Community and Health Scrutiny Committee since 2007 and was Vice Chairman in 2007/08; she is currently a substitute member of the Planning Committee.  In 2005 Pauline's workload increased when she was elected as County Councillor for Guildford North, where she is still actively involved with Children and Families Select Committee and the Health Scrutiny Committee.

Pauline's Council responsibilities reflect her personal interest in supporting families and young people.  For 25 years Pauline worked as a registered childminder and she ran a holiday play scheme for 3 to 7 year olds for 14 years.  As a Governor of two local schools, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School and Christ's College, and in addition to her recent appointment to the Community Partnership Committee at The Children's Centre, Pauline's support now follows children from birth to leaving school!

Even though her other responsibilities keep her very busy Pauline somehow finds time to be a Children's Liturgy Leader at St Mary's Church (Rydes Hill), a member of the Guildford Arts management committee and a Trustee of Disability Challengers, the local charity that Pauline has chosen to support during her Mayoral year.

As Mayor, Pauline will be actively promoting inclusion, especially for the young, disabled or disadvantaged and on this theme would like to be more directly involved in contributing to the success of local community projects and initiatives, especially those related, but not confined to inclusion.
