During the course of the year, Scrutiny Committees consider a number of items at their meetings, some of which become the focus of further investigation. Once an item has been selected for further investigation, a Study Group is formed of a number of Councillors and specialist Officers and a set of aims and objectives and a proposed timescale for the study are established.
The study group identifies a number of witnesses it would wish to gather evidence from and work begins on achieving the aims of the study. At the end of the study, a formal report of the group's findings is produced and reported back to the Scrutiny Committee from which it was formed, outlining its findings and conclusions along with recommendations for future action.
The investigations carried out to date include:
Community Development Scrutiny Committee
Environment Scrutiny Committee
Housing, Health and Safety Scrutiny Committee
Current Scrutiny Committee investigation
Services for the Homeless in Guildford Borough - Housing, Health & Safety Scrutiny Committee.
