Guildford Borough Council has decided on the council tax level for 2007/08. The Band D figure for Guildford will be £134.17, a 1.95% increase on 2006/7. This increase, which is lower than last year, means a band D Guildford household will pay less than 5p per week extra in 2007/8 for borough council services.

Surrey County Council has agreed an increase of 4.44% for 2007/8, making their Band D charge £1,009.62. This is up by £42.93 from last year's £966.69.

Surrey Police Authority  is increasing its Band D Council Tax by £8.01, a rise of 4.91% on last year's £163.26.

Your Council Tax bill includes amounts to meet spending plans of Guildford Borough Council, Surrey County Council, Surrey Police Authority and local Parishes.

Lead Member for Finance and Resources, Cllr Tony Rooth, says: "We receive only a small part of the council tax collected, but are committed to providing effective services and value for money for our residents. Efficiency savings, increasing income and prioritising services mean we can achieve this while actually improving some services, such as plastic recycling collections and our forthcoming kitchen waste trial."
