I was elected to Guildford Borough Council in May 2003, as one of the two ward members for Send. I have a seat on the council’s Executive as lead member for healthy living. My portfolio includes Spectrum and other sport’s centres, health issues, food safety and education, parks and countryside and street cleansing throughout the borough.
I am also a member of Guildford’s local committee, which is responsible for road and transportation issues in the borough, in conjunction with Surrey County Council.
I am the current chairman of the Guildford Summer Festival’s steering committee and was, until July 2005, chairman of the Friends of Guildford’s Electric Theatre.
I am a keen producer and director of local films and videos, mostly with Guildford’s award-winning Circle Eight Film Group, which I founded 42 years ago.
Prior to my election as a borough councillor, my previous career was with BBC Television, where I was one of the Senior Programme Directors in BBC TV News, responsible for the live transmission of programmes like the Nine O’ Clock News, Newsnight, Westminster Live and other political programming.
You can contact me by email, telephone or letter. My details are in the Councillor database.
