Animals

By law, pet shops, boarding kennels, dog breeders, dangerous wild animal collections, catteries and horse riding establishments must all be licensed by the local authority.  Find out how to apply for your animal licence. Photo of a cat
Bonfires
The Council receives frequent service requests to investigate nuisance from bonfires.  Although there are no restrictions as to when a garden bonfires may be lit at anytime, they are often likely to cause a nuisance to neighbours and should be avoided wherever possible.
Contaminated Land
There is now a growing understanding of the consequences of land contamination from previous industrial uses and recognition of the need to remediate and reuse previously developed 'brownfield' sites.  Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 requires the Council to identify any contaminated land within their authority.
Drainage

Most private drains and sewers will be the responsibility of the owner(s) of the properties which connect into them.

We can provide advice on the options available to you if you are having problems with your own drainage or the drainage on a neighbouring property.

Food

Our aim is to make sure that food manufactured, prepared or sold within Guildford borough is in a safe condition for your consumption.
