If you would like to request information about contaminated land held by the Environmental Health Division about land within Guildford Borough, please send the request in writing accompanied by a local map marking the boundary. Please be specific in the questions asked. This is a chargeable service. The charge is dependant on the time spent processing the request.
The fees from 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2010 are:
- £94.00 for first hour and £66.50 for subsequent hours and part thereof.
Our response to an enquiry involves a search through historic data, previous investigations and liaison with external agencies. Therefore, the request must be made well in advance, giving a minimum of three working weeks for us to respond.
The Contaminated Land enquiries can be made in writing to Environmental Health and Licensing Services.
Development on contaminated land
We encourage sustainable use of land to reduce the pressure to build on Greenfield Land. Redeveloping Brownfield sites also provides an opportunity to clean up land contamination and make them suitable for proposed end use.
Guidance has been published for developers to inform them about the requirements for investigation and remediation of land proposed for redevelopment.
