Have you ever wondered whether the restaurant or takeaway that you are thinking of visiting has good standards of food hygiene? Guildford residents and visitors can now make a more informed choice about where they choose to eat.
Food premises will be awarded a star rating based on the assessment of hygiene standards that is completed at the end of every food hygiene inspection carried out by the Council’s environmental health team. Premises with excellent standards of food hygiene will be awarded five stars ranging to a zero stars for food businesses with very poor hygiene standards.
Although the majority of Guildford’s food businesses operate to a high standard, the aim of the scheme is to encourage best practice and drive standards up even higher.
