Guildford is now a Fairtrade Town! This means that a certain number of shops and businesses stock or use Fairtrade products.
Fairtrade makes a real difference to people's lives and guarantees small producers a fair price for their crops and products. You can buy Fairtrade products in Guildford from a number of outlets. You can download a copy of Guildford's Fairtrade Directory, or if you would like a copy sent out to you please contact the Climate Change Team. Please tell us if we've missed any retailers!
What does it mean being a Fairtrade Town?
-
Local Council passes a resolution supporting Fairtrade, and agrees to serve Fairtrade coffee and tea at its meetings and in its offices and canteens.
-
A range of (at least two) Fairtrade products are available in the area's shops and local cafes/catering establishments.
-
Fairtrade products are used by a number of local work places (estate agents, hairdressers etc) and community groups (churches etc).
-
Attract media coverage and popular support for the campaign.
-
A local steering group is set up to ensure continued commitment to its Fairtrade Town status.
Please visit the Fairtrade website (this page opens in a new window) for more information.
