If you have a large item of household refuse which you can't dispose of in your normal bin or sack, such as a wardrobe, sofa or fridge, then you can request a bulky waste collection.
How much does a bulky waste collection cost?
The following scale of charges applies:
- For the collection of a single item, £13.00
- For the collection of two to five items, £18.90
- For the collection of large quantities, the charge is assessed by an Inspector, based on an hourly charge of £63.40, (£63.40 minimum).
Cast iron baths will be charged as one item, but must be broken up before collection. A bed base and mattress will count as 2 items or 3 if headboard etc. is detachable.
How can I arrange a bulky waste collection?
You can print off a bulky waste collection form [PDF] (122k) and send it to us with your payment (cheques should be made payable to Guildford Borough Council). We will then contact you, either by letter or telephone to tell you when the collection will take place. This will normally be a minimum of 2-3 weeks after the receipt of your payment.

Yes, but please indicate that a small vehicle is required on the top of your application form.
Are there any items which cannot be collected?
Yes, there are a number of items which we cannot collect, including loose refuse, builder's rubble, fluorescent tubes (even if in a sun bed), garden waste, oil tanks, sheet glass, sheet plate glass and pianos. I have unwanted furniture which I don't really want to throw away as it could be reused, what could I do with it?
