To make way for development of Guildford's new premier entertainment venue, the remaining Civic car park spaces closed on Monday 20 July 2009.

In Guildford there are over 5,000 public parking spaces in and around the town centre and hundreds more park and ride spaces serving the town.

There is a wide range of alternative car parks near the Civic: 

• Castle (350 spaces)
• Bright Hill (121 spaces)
• Upper High Street (49 spaces)
• York Road (605 spaces)

At weekends there are also:

• Robin Hood (23 spaces)
• St Josephs Church (71 spaces)

An excellent alternative is to use the park and ride system:

• Artington (over 700 spaces)
• Merrow (335 spaces)

Most of the car park spaces will be reinstated once the Civic and neighbouring hotel project is finished, when 220 public spaces will be available.  Construction of the replacement Civic is due for completion in autumn 2011.
