2008/2009 - How did we perform
Reception staff served 15,165 customers and of these:

58% were local residents enquiring about resident and visitor parking permits,
-
15% were challenging or paying parking fines, and
-
10% were asking for change.
15,572 items of post were received and of these:
-
13,349 required a response, and
-
97.92% of these were responded to within ten working days.
Over 4,000 Residents’ permits, Business permits, Carers’ permits, and Medical permits were issued by the Parking Section and over 50,000 Visitor daily permits.
The office staff answered over 17,700 external phone calls and of these, 89% were answered within ten seconds.
60.1% of all parking fine payment transactions were made through the automated telephone system or via the website.
The Parking Services received over 182 compliments and 169 complaints, 23% of the complaints were about machine faults. There are plans to upgrade all existing pay on foot machines.
There were 3,302,613 users in the car parks and 469,730 users in the on-street town centre pay and display bays.
The Council car parks operate with over 5,000 spaces and over 93% of car park spaces are covered by the Park Mark Safer Parking Award. In addition Artington, Merrow Park and Spectrum park and ride have also achieved this award recently.
