2007/2008 - How did we perform

Reception staff served 13,933 customers and of these 62% were local residents enquiring about resident and visitor parking permits, 15% were challenging or paying parking fines and 7.5% were asking for change.

15,829 items of post were received and of these 12,784 required a response. 98.55% of these were responded to within ten working days.

Over 4,000 Residents’ permits, Business permits, Carers’ permits, and Medical permits were issued by the Parking Section and over 50,000 Visitor daily permits.

The office staff answered over 15,000 external phone calls and of these, 90% were answered within ten seconds.

The Parking Office web pages have received 52,969 pageviews, which represent a 36% year on year positive growth.

57.55% of all parking fine transactions were made through the automated telephone system or via the Internet.

The Parking Services received over 130 compliments and 146 complaints, 29% of the complaints were about machine faults.  There are plans to upgrade all existing pay on foot machines.

There were 3,510,665 users in the car parks and 600,366 users in the on-street town centre pay and display bays.

The Council car parks operate with over 5,000 spaces and over 90% of car park spaces are covered by the Park Mark Safer Parking Award.  In addition the Millmead on-street bays and Artington Park & Ride have also achieved this award recently.
