Garden waste recycling top tips

Sacks should be placed out on the kerbside before 7am on the same day as your recycling collection in a position where they are clearly visible from the road.

They should not be excessively heavy to carry.  If you can lift and carry the sacks comfortably to a height of 3 feet then they should be fine.

Please keep your sacks dry prior to collection.  Other options available to Guildford residents for dealing with garden waste are:

  • Subsidised compost bins which can be obtained by telephoning 0845 0760223.
  • Green Cone food digesters which will accept food waste and kitchen-scraps. These are supplied to Guildford residents and can be obtained by telephoning the recycling hotline. £5 while stocks last.
  • Garden waste from domestic properties can be taken to your local Community Recycling Centre where it is accepted free of charge.

'Composting For All' by Nicky Scott is an excellent pamphlet explaining how to make good quality compost.  'Composting For All' is available free by telephoning the recycling hotline.
