How often should my street be cleaned?
Each street has a standard of cleanliness which must be met. The frequency of cleaning depends on its use. On average, streets are checked and cleaned fortnightly by litter patrols, with some streets cleaned more often. Guildford town centre is cleaned daily.
This service applies to all public sites and adopted roads only. Adopted land is land that we manage including roads, parks, grass verges and housing sites.

Mechanical sweeping takes place monthly on most main routes, with adjoining roads being swept every 3 months.
If you think that a road needs more attention because of flooding or wash down, please phone the hotline 01483 444499 or contact us via email on hotlinec@guildford.gov.uk
Should I contact you if there is litter on the street?
We employ inspectors who monitor the standard of cleanliness of the borough's roads. However, we are always grateful for members of the public to contact us if there are large amounts of litter in a particular place. Phone our hotline 01483 444499 or contact us via email on hotlinec@guildford.gov.uk
How quickly will litter be cleared once it is reported?
We prioritise litter clearance each day, and our response time will depend on where the litter is in the borough and how much litter there is.

Will leaves normally be picked up?
Leaves are collected on the normal sweeping schedule in the borough, although we hire more equipment in the autumn and winter to deal with the problem. The leaves we collect are generally composted. Certain roads within the borough receive special treatment during the autumn because of the size and number of trees there are.
