Budding young poets can win prizes for their school by taking part in the 'Mighty Tidy Poetry' competition being run by Guildford Borough Council. Part of the Keep Guildford Clean education campaign, the competition asks pupils to send in their poems about litter to raise awareness of why it's important to be 'mighty tidy'.
The Mighty Tidy competition offers the chance for children to win a computer, digital cameras, music vouchers and more for their schools, with all entrants receiving a certificate. The council's Recycling and Cleansing team invites pupils to think about litter and the problems it causes throughout the year as part of their schools' education programme.
The closing date for entries is Friday 25 April 2008. Poems can be written at home or school and schools can enter as many poems as they like.
Schools who wish to take part should contact the Cleansing Information and Education Officer.
