We have our own travel plan which seeks to promote sustainable travel. The plan aims to contribute to easing congestion and pollution within the borough.
What is it?
The travel plan is a package of practical measures aimed at promoting sustainable travel within the council, with an emphasis on reducing single occupancy car travel. It aims to:
- contribute to easing congestion (by reducing travel generally and specifically in peak hours)
- reduce pollution
- improve health by encouraging walking and cycling
So far we have taken the following initiatives:
- showers/changing facilities for staff
- flexible working hours
- 2 pool bikes
- pool cars
- umbrellas available to borrow at reception
- interest free cycle loans for staff
- cycle business mileage
- interest free train and bus season ticket loans for staff
- covered cycle parking and secure lockers, as well as motorcycle parking
- internal car share database
- emergency lift home scheme for car sharers
