Events Calendar: What you need to know about submitting an event

Guildford Borough Council publicises events taking place in Guildford Borough on its searchable website events calendar.  It is available to the public and anyone can submit an event for inclusion, subject to approval.  Events must be submitted via the online form and cannot be submitted in any other way. 

Events submitted should be held within the Guildford Borough and enhance a visitor's experience of the area.  Please note that paid-for training courses will not be included.

Some example events included in the calendar include:

• Gardening shows
• Charity Christmas fairs
• Cycle marking by local police
• Verdi 'Requiem' at Guildford Cathedral
• Baby and child first aid training
• 5k run at local football club

By submitting an event you agree that your event does not either
a) discriminate or promote discrimination, either physically, verbally or by conduct, or
b) restrict the participation of any person in or at your event, on the grounds of race, nationality, colour, ethnic or national origin, religion, creed, sexual orientation, marital status, sex or disability.

If you submit an event that breaks these criteria Guildford Borough Council reserves the right to exclude the event from the calendar and decline future events that you may submit.

Please note:

• Events submitted are not automatically included in the events calendar.
  Guildford Borough Council reserves the right to exclude any event at its discretion
• All event notices submitted are assessed for suitability and may be edited by a member of our web team.  Assessment is carried out during normal working hours (8.30am-5pm Monday to Thursday, 8.30am-4.30pm Friday) and we cannot guarantee that all events submitted will be published before the date and time of the event. 
• Listing an organisation's event does not constitute an endorsement by Guildford Borough Council

Tips:

• Use the Description box on the form to 'sell' your event
• Tell people what's happening at your event and why they should come 
• Make sure you include date, time, cost and how to book. Events without these details may not be published.  If the event is free please state this.  If you run out of space in the 'Price' or 'How to book' boxes you can add further details in the 'Description' box
• Remember to check the spelling and grammar before submitting the form
