At the Housing Advice Centre we offer a free and confidential housing advice service. You can visit, phone, write to us or contact us by email for information on a wide range of housing related issues.

Please note that from 9am to 10am every Thursday a limited service is available at the Housing Advice Centre due to staff training.
When you first contact us you will be able to get immediate advice and if appropriate an appointment can be arranged to discuss your housing options. We will give you a checklist of information and documents that you will need to bring along to your housing options interview.
There is a high demand for council and housing association properties in the borough, therefore, most of our customers will wait some considerable time before being offered a council or housing association home. You may, therefore, need to explore other housing solutions, which may be faster and meet your needs in the short or long term. Our staff can help you do this.
If you think you might become homeless let us know as soon as possible. We can negotiate on your behalf with a relative, landlord, or mortgage lender to delay or prevent you becoming homeless. Most homelessness is preventable if early action is taken. However, if it is not possible to help you stay where you are we would look at the housing options available to you.
