What is HomeSTEP?
HomeSTEP is a tenancy and family support service - Supporting Tenants Empowering People. The service offers short term advice mainly to families and couples but also to single people living in their own home.
What will a HomeSTEP Support Officer help you with?

Knowing your housing rights and responsibilities

Finding furniture

Talking with your landlord

General support and advice

Finding information on local services

Referrals to other services

Ensuring that your children have the opportunity to access local activities and groups

Your children's safety

Healthy shopping, eating and cooking, on a budget

Information on childcare issues such as behaviour, diet and development.
How will a HomeSTEP Support Officer help?

Identify what support you need and work with you to agree an action plan

Work out how often and for how long support is needed

Identify other agencies that can provide help
What is expected of you?

That you engage with the service

That you comply to the conditions of your tenancy

That you work towards the agreed action plan
How will I get help?
Referrals to HomeSTEP are made by the Housing Advice Service. HomeSTEP visit all tenants who have recently moved into rented property to ensure that rent, housing benefit local housing allowance, and utility accounts have been set up and to identify any areas where we could provide support.
