Supported housing

Guildford Borough Council has a dedicated supported housing service which provides 49 units of accommodation.  The properties are allocated to vulnerable adults between 18 and 65 who need low to moderate support to live independently.

Residents may have:

• Mental health needs.
• A learning disability.
• A drug/alcohol problem that they are actively addressing.

We also provide floating or 'visiting' housing support for up to 35 people, at any one time, who are helped to maintain their tenancies.  Support includes help in dealing with benefits, home budgeting, developing social network skills and coping with official correspondence and forms.  This service is for single people and covers all types of tenancy – i.e. Council, Housing Association, private rented or shared ownership etc.

How to Apply
To apply to move to supported housing, you must be on the Housing Needs Register and have a local connection with the borough.

Applicants for floating housing support must be referred by housing staff, or other statutory and voluntary agencies.  If you require any information about the service, please contact us.

Other supported housing services
There are also a number of other housing support services and accommodation provided by housing associations and voluntary agencies in the borough.  We work in partnership with these agencies and referrals can be made through the Housing Advice Centre.
