Are you able to speak to your neighbour?
Minor problems can often be resolved by speaking to your neighbour, explaining the problem and seeing how you can work together to reach an amicable solution.
Do you want to speak to your neighbour but don't know how?
Guildford Community Mediation Service can help with problems involving noise, boundaries, children, abuse, pets, parking, rubbish and anti-social behaviour.
The mediation service is an impartial service which aims to reach an amicable solution, agreed upon by both parties.
If you are interested in mediation please contact the Guildford Mediation Service or pick up a leaflet from the Housing Advice Centre at Guildford Borough Council.

What happens once I've made a complaint?
The officer in charge of your case will speak to you, either face to face or over the telephone, in order to gain as many details as possible.
The officer will also ask for any evidence that supports your complaint, for example, your statement and any photographic evidence.
The officer will inform you of what action they propose to take and will consult with you on this matter.
What happens next?
The officer will collect further information and evidence including interviews with witnesses, completed diary sheets and will liaise with other agencies.
What action can be taken against a nuisance neighbour?
Varying levels of action can be taken against a neighbour who is causing a nuisance, starting with a letter or interview to legal action, for example, an injunction or Notice of Seeking Possession.
The level of action taken will depend on the nature of the complaint and the level of evidence available to support the complaint.
For any further advice, please contact the Environmental Health team.
