Guildford Fiesta is a small slice of carnival to celebrate the Guildford Summer Festival. In 2009, the procession included Holy Trinity School, The Barn Youth Cafe, Lockwood Day Centre, home-schooled children and families in colourful costumes. They were accompanied by giant animal figures and the lively beats of samba music provided by Bloco do Sul.

This year, Street Processions arts organisation chose the theme endangered species to raise awareness about our impact on nature.
The Fiesta ended at The Picnic Festival on Shalford Park, a glorious day of home-grown music and arts presented in an ecologically sound way. For more information about The Picnic visit: www.picnicfestival.co.uk (this page opens in a new window).
The Fiesta was organised by Street Processions with support from Guildford Borough Council and funded by Awards for All. The Picnic Festival is organised by Jellytree and the Coalition of Guildford.
These events are part of the Guildford Summer Festival. For more information about other events in the Festival, please go to the Summer Festival pages.
