Portraits in Watersoluble Oils with Roger Dellar
Guildford House Gallery are delighted to welcome back popular local artist, Roger Dollar. His last workshop for beginners at Guildford House sold out very quickly. This time he is doing a workshop aimed at adults who have some experience in either portrait painting or watersoluble oils.
Roger will show you how to build up tonal masses in order to get the feeling of a head. Likeness will be achieved by relating positions of the features. This will not be about doing a drawing and colouring it in, but working with paint. The emphasis will be on achieving a good head rather than a likeness. The likeness will appear gradually. The use of water-soluble oils will be explained, how to build up paint, how to lay one colour on top of another and also to understand the nature of the media.
Suitable for more experienced painters.
Models and materials will be provided. We have only a limited number of easels, so please reserve one when booking (free of charge) or you are free to bring your own easels etc.
There will be a 45 minute break for lunch. The Gallery Cafe is open for light lunches or you can bring a packed lunch which can be eaten in the Brew House.
Price:£45
