Tim Rudman qualified in medicine and surgery in the late 1960’s and for many years pursued both his two loves of medicine and photography, but now devotes his time to photography.

He is internationally well known as a photographer, printer and authority on darkroom printing techniques, and notably for his pioneering work in the beautiful process of Lith Printing. He is a regular writer and lecturer and has conducted workshops on printing and toning techniques in Britain, Ireland, Spain, Australia, Canada and America.

As well as publishing several hundred articles on photography and printing, Tim has authored four critically acclaimed books on darkroom printing skills. The first, 'The Photographer’s Master Printing Course', was an instant best seller. This was followed by 'The Master Photographer’s Lith Printing Course', 'The Photographer’s Toning Book-A Definitive Guide' and 'The World of Lith Printing'.

Tim is a member of the Arena group of photographers, a member and past chairman of The London Salon of Photography, and is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts, the Royal Photographic Society in Great Britain and an Honorary Fellow of the British Professional Photographer’s Association. His work has been widely exhibited in over 25 countries, receiving numerous international awards and is held in several permanent and private collections around the world. He is represented in London by Hoopers Gallery.

Tim works predominantly with Black & White silver gelatin prints, which are archivally processed and toned with sulphide, selenium and gold, both for permanence and for aesthetic effect.

His images on show at Guildford House Gallery this year come from a new body of work of the Icelandic landscape.

This year also brings a one-man exhibition at The Lightbox in Woking and a workshop tour in America.
