Flowers in Fashion: Floral Frocks - 1840-1950
Since the Elizabethan era flowers have been portrayed in wearing apparel.
Included in the exhibition of Marion May's costumes will be an early Victorian Wedding Dress of ivory brocade with a pattern of irises. Also a blue silk Edwardian dress embellished with roses; a silk dress from the 1920s with a pattern of tulips and cornflowers and a 1940s summer dress incorporating orange chrysanthemums.
The exhibition will also include accessories and antique fans.
The Language of Flowers will also be explored in the wall displays.
