Celia Lewis

Magnolia by Celia Lewis - Painting      Engraved glass bowl by Celia Lewis

Celia Lewis has lived all her life in Surrey. She is married with three grown up daughters. She studied life and portrait charcoal drawing with Signorina Simi in Florence and latterly has been a regular member of The Studio in Tongham taught by Clare Hackney. She is a member of Guildford Art Society and exhibits annually with them at Guildford House and with the Guildford Arts scheme. She was the winner of the 2004 Guildford Art Society Aquarius Award.

Celia has held exhibitions at the Maltings in Farnham and more recently at Haslemere Museum and with her Art Group at Whipley Manor Farm and Cranleigh Arts, both of which included sandblasted glass. She has also exhibited at various other local galleries.

Although she also paints with pastels, watercolours are her first love and she is fascinated with the myriad of colours and reflections found particularly in white flowers; if possible she never uses more than three or four colours in a painting and hopes to achieve harmony by skilful mixing.

Celia is also a glass engraver producing sandblasted and drill engraved glass in her own unique style with particular emphasis on natural objects such as leaves and feathers.
