2008 Update
Jan trained as an illustrator at the London College of Printing, followed by a career as a commercial artist in industry.
In the last 10 years she has exhibited widely as a member of the Society of Floral Artists (award of Excellence 2005), more recently at the Society of Botanical Artists Exhibition (Certificate of Botanical Merit 2006, Presidents Award 2007), at the Royal Horticultural Society (Silver Gilt Medal), and in January was elected a member of the SBA in 2008.

A successful exhibition in Osaka, Japan will be repeated next year in Tokyo.
One of her current painting techniques includes using handmade papers with gold and metal leaf, which she describes as an 'organic' method since the images grow out of the multi-layered base. Paintings of flowers, animals and birds are exhibited in her mixed and solo exhibitions. The next solo exhibition will be held at Hampshire County Council's Allen Gallery in Alton in October 2008.
Jan has a Certificate in Adult Education and teaches at workshops and courses at RHS Wisley and Gilbert White's House.

Jan Harbon had five paintings accepted at the Society of Botanical Artists, one of which was awarded the Certificate of Botanical Merit.

She trained as an illustrator at the London College of Printing and worked in London until family commitments made it practical to work from her studio at home.
She now designs for the Greetings Card industry and also has prints of her work published here and abroad.
Her multi textured mixed media paintings such as The Grey Mare are not generally used for her commercial work, and are usually only available as original paintings at exhibitions, or sometimes as Limited Edition Prints.
Jan is also a member of the Society of Floral Artists, and has a stand annually at the Chelsea Flower Show.
