Pauline Dean specialised in botanically accurate watercolours and also worked in pen and ink. She was one of the country's most talented botanical artists and was the holder of seven Gold Medals from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Pauline started painting in 1984, she painted over 500 pictures. Her book 'Portfolio of a Botanical Artist' summarised her career over the past 20 years and also gave insight into her early life.
Despite no formal art training, Pauline turned to painting in 1984 after a career in nursing and bringing up her family. She lived in Guildford, and taught at Wisley Gardens.
In addition to private commissions, Pauline's illustrations have been published in several botanical magazines and various books. Her work is held in collections both in the UK and abroad.
Pauline sadly died on 13 October 2007.
