Sine then she has worked as a washline artist, a photographer’s assistant, a picture framer and a display supervisor for Heals. She ran private painting classes for adults for over ten years and also taught in Adult Education. She still give occasional talks and workshops to groups such as the WI.
Sally has undertaken many commissions (often on a portrait theme) over the last two decades, mainly in watercolour or pastel and she also paints for pleasure whenever possible. Her work is included in collections both in Britain and much further afield including Spain, Australia and Canada.
Sally Gorton enjoyed being part of the Vivartis exhibition. Other local venues where she has exhibited include Guildford House, The Royal Surrey hospital, Cranleigh Arts Centre and the Harvey Road Gallery.
Recently she has become closely involved with her husband Philip's business, he is a House Historian, writing up the results of his researches and sometimes helping with pictorial matter.
A few examples of Sally's work can be seen on their House History website (this page opens in a new window).
