27 June to 8 August 2009
2009 marks the 50th anniversary of Guildford House Gallery and the 350th anniversary of the Guildford House building.

The gallery will celebrate these milestones with a display of works and objects relating to the history of Guildford House, including watercolours, pastels, engravings and photographs spanning two-hundred years. The exhibition will explore the history of the house through images and text, including the conversion of the private Childe residence into business premises in the 1830s and later into a restaurant, and the conversion of the building into its present form to house Guildford House Gallery in the 1950s.

The exhibition will afford an opportunity to see rarely-exhibited floor plans and cutaway drawings by the local architect and artist Graeme Highet (1905-1966), leading the conversion project, as well as small artefacts found in the house under floorboards.
