22 November 2008 to 3 January 2009 in the Garden Room
The Kaleidoscope Group of artists return to Guildford House on 22 November 2008, to find out where the group is exhibiting in the meantime visit www.kaleidoscope-art.co.uk (this page opens in a new window).
It is seven years since this group first formed. Their latest exhibition The Spirit Goes on, reflects their growth since 2000, their plans for the future, and the ongoing creativity of the group and its guests.
Original members Terri Smart and Iona Mackenzie Laycock started their professional careers by selling their work through the Guildford House Gallery shop. Other members, such as Tilu Shah and Jenefer Ham, who have joined since 2000 are now also on permanent display in the Gallery Gift shop, while photographer Sue Roche exhibits with Guildford Photographic Society and Surrey Photographic Association and contributed to the 2007 Architecture Week display. Founder member Terri Smart says:
"Guildford House Gallery feels like home for Kaleidoscope members. Our exhibitions here are always very successful and we are all really looking forward to being back in November 2007 and for us, home really is where the heart is."
Kaleidoscope are a group of people who work in different media, ceramics, textile art, glass and photography. Because they normally work alone, they decided to come together in the year 2000 to exchange ideas and hold joint exhibitions.
Their aim is to bring a variety of approaches together and attract a crossover audience. They hope ceramic enthusiasts might discover a taste for the wealth of colour and texture in textile pieces, textile fans a love for the ethereal beauty of glass, and glass-lovers an eye for the translucent quality of hand-built porcelain.
Don't miss this chance to pick up that original gift just in time for Christmas.
