EDUCATION

Encouraged by my interest in the traditional jewellery made in the countries I had visited, I joined Adult Education jewellery courses in London in 1989.

In 1996/97 I did a LOCF 3 Jewellery Design course and in 1997/98 a BTEC HNC course in Art and Design / Jewellery, both at South Thames College in London. This was followed by a third year at (98/99) doing a BTEC Art & Design Personal Development Certificate at the same college.

JEWELLERY

On the whole I don’t make ranges of jewellery as I prefer to make one-offs, although I might do a few pieces based on one idea if I feel it is successful. When using stones I generally base my design around the particular stone I am working with and what I feel will suit it – in other words I enjoy experimenting and trying new shapes, designs and techniques!

I work mainly in silver and like contrasting textures and metals so I sometimes use 18 ct. gold, or a variety of textured pieces of silver, to achieve the effect I want.
