Product designer Richard G Liddle formed Cohda in early 2005 to create niche products for clients looking for well-designed environmentally sensitive products. He is determined to extract useful raw materials from the stuff we throw away. He has developed a range of design solutions based on environmental principles.
Liddle has patented a technique to mould and laminate the recycled plastic bottles to create curves, an innovation which makes possible a wide range of new uses. The furniture will last for around 100 years, but can be endlessly recycled, so it has great environmental benefits.
The RD4 (roughly drawn chair) evolved from Cohda’s early experiments in the use of waste plastic as a design material. Each chair is a unique handwoven piece and comes in various bright colours.
