Join artist Darcy Turner and turn newspaper into solid Stixx® with his amazing machines. Then help make a windmill which will be displayed in Guildford House Gallery during the exhibition.
Fun for children and adults (children must be supervised by an adult at all times).
Darcy Turner is committed to reusing waste, old newspapers, to be precise. Trained at the London College of Furniture, he rolls papers into loose tubes, brushes them with a slick of wallpaper paste and feeds them through a home-made gizmo resembling a giant cigarette roller. The result is hard papier-mache ‘stixx’, which he binds together into furniture or sculptures using cable ties. He’s a frequent visitor to schools, where he shows children how to make useful things from newspapers.
