Doris says, "Porcelain has been my preferred clay for some time now. I enjoy its purity and ephemeral translucence. To some extent I have been taking inspiration from Chinese classical forms. After a fair period of making eggshell-thin, unglazed bone china pots, trying to capture clouds and the froth on waves, I am firmly back into throwing on the wheel and into glazing. I constantly aspire to some of the jewel like qualities of polished stones with my glazes, hoping to retain the brightness of porcelain. At the moment I am trying to convey the plasticity that clay has, as a material, before being transformed into a hard object after firing."
