Lucy says, "My work is partly inspired by Giorgio Morandios paintings of groups of vessels; I want my earthenware vases and bowls to have the same sense of being in family groups, whose shapes and colours are related but non-identical. They are intended to be both decorative and functional.
Colour and texture-wise my inspiration comes from nature; I use a smooth egg-shell texture glaze of my own formulation, and I respond to the changes in season by varying the colours accordingly."
Qualifications
Career history
Following a career in television production, I began making pots in 1992. After graduating I set up in a shared studio in Battersea and began to make and sell work at Open Studios and Craft Fairs. I was a member of London Potters. In 2000 I moved to Farnham and for two years had a studio in the historic Farnham Pottery. My studio is now in Kingsley, Hampshire.

Currently my work is thrown on the wheel using white earthenware clay. I make functional and decorative vessels: vases, bowls and jugs. I am constantly aiming for harmony of form and colour.
I also make a range of ceramic buttons for a textiles company.
