Guildford House Gallery is delighted to host the third Double Take exhibition, celebrating the artistic talents of people from two Guildford based community groups. Street Level Art Group (funded and supported by the Healthy Living Programme) and Community Connections will join forces for the two week show which features many interesting and expressive paintings, sculptures, pottery and craft work they have produced over the last year.

Street Level Art Group has been running for four years and is open to all people in Guildford who are living in temporary accommodation, rough sleepers and those with mental health problems."Street Level has really developed in the last year or so" says Lisa Reed, one of the project co-ordinators, "alongside our weekly group, we have been involved in some great exhibitions and community arts projects. We are very proud of all our group members; many of them have gone on to study Art at college or gone back to work and some have even lead workshops and mentored new groups getting established."

One Street Level Art member says.  "I am pleased with the work I’ve done over the past year; my confidence has improved and I’ve picked up lots of new skills in painting. I’m looking forward to sharing my work with the community."

Street Level Art Group has hand made their own picture frames and bespoke frames can be made on a commission basis.

The Community Connections service, as part of the Surrey Hants Borders NHS Trust, provides support for individuals with severe mental health problems and seeks to promote mental health through the provision of accessible group based activities encouraging independence and integration into the community and local resources. The art and craft and pottery groups run in partnership with the Surrey Adult Education service to promote individual creative potential and a sense of self esteem and confidence by using different creative media."The craft group is very helpful to me as I have problems mixing with people as I suffer from social anxiety and therefore being in this group is very helpful" stated a group member.

The exhibition will be held in the Brew House at Guildford House Gallery and will be open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am to 4pm.  All the work will be for sale.
