Objectives
The Friends of Guildford Museum were set up in 1995 to support and promote the work of the museum by raising funds to purchase suitable items to add to the museum's collection which would otherwise be beyond its financial means.

Also, volunteers are always welcome as stewards for special exhibitions, to provide backup work for the museum's series of archaeology lectures and to assist at various functions.

Activities
As a friend you will have an opportunity to participate in a varied programme of talks, outings and social activities arranged to appeal to all age groups.

Visits are arranged to museums and cathedrals, historical properties and country houses, sites of archaeological interest, guided tours of Surrey villages and popular day tours to various parts of London and the South East.

Lectures on the history of Guildford and Surrey, construction of buildings, archaeology, local family histories and other topics of local interest.

Social events include skittles, quiz evenings and guided walks.

Previews of the special exhibitions presented by Guildford Museum.

Newsletters
Friends receive two newsletters each year containing details of events and articles of local historical and archaeological interest.
