Access - Access to the Museum is via steps and there are internal stairs in the historic building. An induction loop is provided at the reception/shop desk. There is a ground floor toilet. Please contact us in advance, using the details at the bottom of this page, so we can assist you as much as possible in preparation for your visit.

Permanent exhibitions:
- Archaeology The Museum's Archaeology Collection dates back to 1852. Highlights of the collection include sceptre handles and religious headdresses’ from the Romano-British temple site at Wanborough, a large collection of Mesolithic handaxes from Farnham and the much of the findings from the excavation from the Tudor site of Farnborough Hill Convent.
- Local History
Objects and pictures covering local trades, industries and social history. There is a model of Guildford Railway station in the 1920s and a section on Victorian childhood with toys. There are also permanent displays on Lewis Carroll and Gertrude Jekyll.
- Needlework
Guildford Museum also cares for a specialist Needlework Collection, highlights of which include 18th and 19th century samplers, a ‘lending quilt’ from a local parish church and a wide selection of Surrey Smocks (Smocks warn by farm labourers in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries).
- Other Sites - the Museum is also responsible for the management of Guildford Castle, the medieval Undercroft on Guildford High Street, the medieval Great Barn at Wanborough and a Victorian School Room adjacent to the Museum. In June 2009 the Museum and Guildford House Gallery, the local art gallery merged.
