Chantry Wood campsite is open from May to October. The campsite is only available to groups of under 16s in groups of less than 100 who will be supervised at all times by responsible adults. Campsite fees are £2.40 per person per night.
Chantry Wood campsite is set within 2 hectares of grassland on the escarpment of Chantry Wood. There are extensive and beautiful views over Albury Vale and Chilworth Village to Blackheath and, in clear weather, to the South Downs beyond.
There is pedestrian, cycle and equestrian access from the North Downs.
The site is just three miles from the ancient town of Guildford with its Castle Keep, famous High Street, parks and gardens.
The spacious, level site, is bordered on three sides by forest and hedgerows. The campsite is approached by a gently winding forest track, just one of many, by which 80 hectares of Chantry Woods may be explored.
The numerous species of tree’s include English oak, Red oak, Ash and American redwoods as well as evergreen Spruce, Cypress and Fir. The woods are managed for conservation to encourage bird and insect life to flourish, and public recreation.
Piped water is available on site, as are brick cubicles for chemical toilets. A large wooden building will provide shelter in extreme weather, and chilly evenings may be passed pleasantly round the camp fire placement.
Shops, supermarkets, Post Office and telephone are to be found close by in Guildford town.
