The MEND Programme is a fun based children’s healthy lifestyle project. MEND has been very successful in helping overweight children and their families get healthier and fitter.
The programme lasts ten weeks and includes an hour of stimulating discussion, alternating between changing behaviour and nutrition topics, and then an hour of fun land or water based activities.
The programme has been developed by scientists from the world renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the University College London Institute of Child Health after 20 years of research. The progress of the scheme is also being monitored and since it began, over 400 MEND programmes have been delivered by partners across the world which have benefitted over 15,000 families.
We are working with Surrey PCT to deliver MEND programmes in the Guildford area. We are looking forward to running a programme in Ash in 2010 in addition to the Guildford programme.
If you have any concerns about your child’s lifestyle or weight please call the MEND team today on (01483) 464119 or visit the link below. We will need to assess whether your child qualifies based on their age, weight and health. You can also speak to your GP or school nurse.
