Guildford Borough Council Sports Development Service receives £6,400 to expand MEND in Guildford

A fun programme for kids and their families to become fitter, healthier and happier developed by Great Ormond Street Hospital will soon be on offer in Guildford.

The MEND programme (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Diet) is for children aged 7-11 years old and their families and helps to get them healthy and fit in only 9 weeks and to stay that way!

The first programme will be run from Kings College, Southway, Guildford.

Details;

Where: Kings College, Southway, Guildford, GU2 6DU

Dates:  Every Tuesday and Thursday, starting 17th September and finishing on 12th November 2007 (does not run during half term)

Times:  6pm-8pm

Cost: No cost to families

Obesity Awareness Day

As a precursor to this, the Sports Officer has organised an Obesity Awareness Day.This provides a practical overview of the critical issues involved in obesity management and treatment. Delivered by experts and based on research and recent Department of Health Guidelines, the day includes comprehensive handouts, references, contacts and patient information resource.

Where: Greenark, Lido Road, Guildford

Date: Monday 11 June 2007

Time: 9am- 5pm

GP’s, School Nurses, Health Promotion Specialists, Community Dieticians, Public Health Consultants, Community workers, Teachers, Sports and Leisure professionals etc
