A completed relevant application form (Private Hire or Hackney Carriage) must to be made before taking the knowledge test. This form must be accompanied by:
At the appointment, we will complete a CRB Disclosure Application, for which you need (as many of these as possible – those in bold are essential):
- Passport (if you are not British you also need proof of your eligibility to work in the UK)
- Full DVLA Driver’s Licence (including photocard and paper counterpart)
- Birth certificate
- Marriage certificate
- National Insurance number on a document
- Three (3) proofs of current address (utility bills, council tax, bank statements, etc.)
- Your full address history for the past five (5) years, including the month and year you moved (if applicable).
- If you have lived outside the UK in the past five (5) years, you will need police clearance from that country.
Once you have made your application, you can do the knowledge test.
The DSA test(s) can be done at any time, and once done, do not expire.
Please be aware that the CRB Disclosure and Medical must be less than six (6) months old on the day we first licence you.
If it takes you longer than six months to complete the knowledge test and all other checks, you will have to apply for a new CRB and medical.
You can defer re-doing these checks until after you have completed the knowledge test and DSA test if you wish.
