Shoppers, commuters and visitors to Guildford are set to benefit from extra park and ride spaces at the popular Artington site.

Work to add an extra 269 spaces is due to start on Tuesday 28 August. This will increase the size of the existing park and ride site by 60%.

Elizabeth Mitchell, Director at Guildford Borough Council, says: "The existing park and ride site at Artington opened in 2002 and is very popular, often filling up with vehicles by mid morning. The additional spaces will help to meet customer demand and reduce traffic congestion in the town centre."

The construction programme is currently due for completion in December. Recycling facilities will remain on site throughout the development.
