The result of the by-election for Ash South and Tongham ward held on 28 July 2006 is as follows:

Douglas Richards (Conservative Party) - 1245
Denise Smith (Liberal Democrats) - 684

Douglas Richards has therefore been elected as borough councillor for Ash South & Tongham ward.

The result of the by-election for Ash Parish (Ash South ward) also held on 28 July 2006 is as follows:

Kathleen Simmons (Conservative Party) - 881
Denise Smith (Liberal Democrats) – 500

Kathleen Simmons has therefore been elected as parish councillor for Ash Parish.
